Definitions<\/strong>:<\/strong><\/p>

Bull Market<\/strong>: A bull market<\/a> is a good thing that signifies a rapid and significant upward trend in the market. Being \u2018bullish\u2019 on something means you think it has a lot of potential to grow.<\/p>

Bear Market<\/strong>: A bear market<\/a> is the opposite of a bull market, signifying a rapid downwards trend & a period of depressed asset prices.<\/p>

Altcoin<\/strong>: Altcoins<\/a> are all tcryptocurrencies besides Bitcoin.<\/p>

Fiat currency<\/strong>: Regular money \u2013 any currency backed by a government or country (USD, AUD, Euro, etc).<\/p>

HODL:<\/strong> HODLers are those holding their crypto for the long-term, regardless of price fluctuations. The term was coined in 2013 when Bitcoin\u2019s price was falling, and an investor mistakenly wrote \u2018I am HODLing\u2019.<\/p>

Market Cap: <\/strong>Market capitalisation<\/a> is a solid indicator of a crypto\u2019s current worth, stability, risk-reward profile & growth potential. It is the total circulating supply of coins multiplied by the price of each coin.\u00a0<\/p>

Low-cap, Mid-cap, Large-cap<\/strong>: The 3 main categories of crypto<\/a> by market cap. Small-cap cryptos have the highest risk-reward profiles, while large-caps are the most stable.<\/p>

ROI (Return on Investment)<\/strong>: The percentage of how much money has been made compared to the initial investment.<\/p>

DCA – Dollar Cost Average<\/a><\/strong>: A reliable strategy which involves buying fixed amounts of crypto at regular intervals instead of trying to time your entry into the market.\u00a0<\/p>

ICO (Initial Coin Offering)<\/strong>: A common way for crypto projects to raise money for their business.<\/p>

Cryptography<\/strong>: The system which makes cryptocurrency<\/a> secure. It uses complex computer & mathematical technology to encrypt data so that only a person with permission can decipher & access it.\u00a0<\/p>

ATH (All time high)<\/strong>: When an asset reaches a new peak in price.<\/p>

Volatility: <\/strong>Price fluctuations in a financial market. The higher the volatility, the more intense the price swings and the riskier the investment.<\/p>

Pump & dump:<\/strong> A nefarious tactic used to artificially inflate prices & get people to invest before big holders conspire to sell all at once, leaving na\u00efve investors empty handed.<\/p>

Shill:<\/strong> Someone purposely promoting a coin or project for their own benefit \u2013 they usually hold the asset they are \u2018shilling\u2019.<\/p>

FUD (fear, uncertainty & doubt)<\/strong>: A strategy used to influence people\u2019s perception of crypto through the spreading of negative, misleading or false information.<\/p>

Bubble<\/strong>: When the price of an industry or asset is way higher than its true value.\u00a0Something waiting to pop at any moment.<\/p>

Whale<\/strong>: A whale is someone who has amassed A LOT of crypto. They can move the market by buying or selling their stake, and they are often linked to sudden crashes & market manipulation.<\/p>

Parabolic<\/strong>: When a coin that sees exponential price growth in a short period of time (resembling the right side of a parabolic curve).\u00a0<\/p>

Mooning<\/strong>: If something is \u2018mooning\u2019 that means a coin\u2019s price is experiencing a spike & may well be headed to \u2018the moon\u2019, which is usually a new all-time-high or much higher.<\/p>

No coiner:<\/strong> Someone who has\u00a0no\u00a0cryptocurrency in their investment portfolio & believes that cryptocurrency in general will fail.<\/p>

Buy the dip<\/strong>: When you capitalise on temporarily low prices to get in at a cheap price. \u00a0<\/p>

Bitcoin dominance:<\/strong> The percentage amount of the total crypto market cap (all the money in crypto) belonging to Bitcoin. How Bitcoin is being bought\/held compared to other altcoins. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>

Altseason<\/strong>: Altseason<\/a> is a brief period where money flows out of Bitcoin & into altcoins, resulting in a significant & rapid price increase for the majority of cryptocurrencies.<\/p>

NFTs (Non-fungible tokens)<\/strong>: NFTs<\/a> are digital assets\u00a0 that are used to represent a wide range of unique, one-of-a-kind assets from collectibles to digital artwork to identity documents to land titles.<\/p>

Rekt<\/strong>: Getting rekt\u00a0is when a trader takes a big loss in crypto.<\/p>

Stablecoin<\/strong>: A stablecoin<\/a> is a crypto asset that does not fluctuate in value as it is pegged to another stable asset like fiat currency or gold.<\/p>

Satoshi<\/strong>: The smallest denomination of Bitcoin you can purchase \u2013 one hundred millionth of a single Bitcoin.<\/p>

Support\/resistance levels: <\/strong>Key price barriers that stop an asset\u2019s price from making overly dramatic moves. Support<\/a> acts as a floor for the price & resistance<\/a> acts as a ceiling.

Long position: <\/strong>You can \u2018long\u2019 an asset by buying cryptocurrency at a certain price, and then selling it after its price has risen.<\/p>

Short<\/strong> position<\/strong>: A \u2018short\u2019 is a type of trade where you can turn a profit by betting that an asset will decrease in value.<\/p>

DeFi (<\/strong>Decentralised finance<\/strong>)<\/strong>: DeFi<\/a> recreates financial services like insurance, loans & savings on Blockchain networks<\/a> outside the control of banks, governments & companies<\/p>

Smart contracts: <\/strong>Smart contracts<\/a> are self-executing digital contracts that allow some form of direct exchange between two people, without the need for a third party like a bank or real-estate agent.\u00a0<\/p>

DEX<\/strong> (decentralised exchange):<\/strong> A crypto exchange operating without a central authority (like Uniswap). The true wild west of trading. Approach with caution.\u00a0<\/p>

Private\/public key:<\/strong> The codes which you need to send, receive & safely store your crypto.<\/p>
